چکیده
Plasmons supported in the massless electron surface states of topological insulators (TIs), known as Dirac plasmons, have great potential next generation optoelectronics. However, their inherent confinement to makes investigation plasmons challenging. Near-field techniques provide ideal platform directly probe due sensitivity evanescent fields at surface. Here, we demonstrate use aperture near-field spectroscopy for localized terahertz (THz) plasmon resonances Bi2Se3 ribbon arrays with widths ranging from 10 40 µm. Unlike scattering THz techniques, method is most sensitive relevant lower-momenta corresponding wavelengths on scale ∼20 The combination time-domain and microscopy enables sampling zone 0.5–2.5 range. We map dispersion, which reveals a coupled plasmon–phonon polariton interaction. spectra show higher contrast upper branch comparison far-field observations. information revealed by could deepen our understanding behavior leading development real-world TI devices.

Near-field surface plasmons on quasicrystal metasurfaces
Excitation and manipulation of surface plasmons (SPs) are essential in developing cutting-edge plasmonic devices for medical diagnostics, biochemical spectroscopy and communications. The most common approach involves designing an array of periodic slits or grating apertures that enables coupling of the incident light to the SP modes. In recent years, plasmonic resonances, including extraordinar...

متن کاملGeneration and near-field imaging of Airy surface plasmons.
We demonstrate experimentally the generation and near-field imaging of nondiffracting surface waves, plasmonic Airy beams, propagating on the surface of a gold metal film. The Airy plasmons are excited by an engineered nanoscale phase grating, and demonstrate significant beam bending over their propagation. We show that the observed Airy plasmons exhibit self-healing properties, suggesting nove...
متن کاملNear-field Optical Excitation and Detection of Surface Plasmons
By definition surface plasmons are the quanta of surface-charge-density oscillations, but the same terminology is commonly used for collective oscillations in the electron density at the surface of a metal. Because the surface charge oscillations are intimately coupled to electromagnetic fields, surface plasmons are polaritons. In the past, surface plasmons have attracted considerable attention...
متن کاملNear-field Propagation in Planar Nanostructured Arrays
In suitably designed nanoscale systems the ultrafast migration of uv/visible electromagnetic energy, despite its nearfield rather than propagating character, can be made highly directional. At the photon level such energy migration generally takes a multi-step form, with each step signifying the transfer of an electromagnetic quantum between chromophores playing the transient roles of source/do...
